Dining at 360° Restaurant 2970m abv sea level
What better way to celebrate special occasions with your loved ones than dining at a 360-degree revolving restaurant on top of a mountain surrounded by spectacular alpine scenery straight out of postcards?
We spent a memorable Christmas day on the Schilthorn summit - Piz Gloria located at 2,970 metres above sea level. Piz Gloria got its name from a James Bond novel and is well known for being the film location for the 1969 Bond movie "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". It took us 2.5 hours to reach Schilthorn from Interlaken train station after multiple train, bus and cable car rides.
Do make advance reservation if you do not want to miss the James Bond brunch buffet at Schilthorn - Piz Gloria 360°-Restaurant which is quite reasonable priced at CHF 35 per adult.
Despite having no advance reservation, we didn't want to miss the opportunity to dine at the 360° revolving restaurant. Thankfully the restaurant allowed walk in customers after the buffet lunch ended at 2 pm. It was really an amazing and eye-opening experience to watch the mountain scenery glide by while enjoying our food. It took 45 minutes for the restaurant to rotate 360° around its own axis.

Piz Gloria
The name Piz Gloria originated in Ian Fleming's James Bond novel On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1963), in which it is the mountain-top hideout of the villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld and contains an allergy clinic.
After filming was completed, the restaurant retained the Piz Gloria name of the film location, and currently acknowledges the film's significant contribution to its commercial reputation; the lower floor houses a James Bond exhibition containing memorabilia and film clips. In July 2015, a new and larger exhibition, called "007 Walk of Fame", was opened.
